About Us
Sloughjourneyshare.com is a partnership initiative with Liftshare providing you with efficient and greener travel solutions to and from work. This project forms part of Slough Borough Council's Staff Travel Plan aimed at increasing the number of staff travelling by more sustainable modes of transport through improved travel choices.
Branded 'Wiser Ways to Work', the Travel Plan is based upon the following objectives:
- To widen travel choices and make travel by sustainable modes more attractive to staff;
- To reduce the effects of staff travel activities on the environment;
- To help reduce the impact of congestion by reducing the need for unnecessary business travel;
- To help improve road safety and minimise the level of traffic accidents of all modes;
- To provide a leadership role in the community and promote the uptake of Travel Plans by other organisations in the community.
A key feature of the site is a free facility allowing users to find potential drivers and passengers to share their journey to and from work with. Sharing journeys reduces the numbers of cars on the road, can help to cut your fuel costs and provides an innovative alternative to the more traditional forms of commuting.
Sloughjourneyshare.com also provides links to useful travel information such as bus and train timetables, cycles guides and local maps.
